Strategi Guru dalam Mengajar Ilmu Sharaf pada Santri Awwaliyah di Pondok Pesantren Al-Istiqamah Kota Banjarmasin

Abstract

This study aims to describe the teaching strategies employed by teachers in teaching Sharaf (Arabic morphology) to Awwaliyah students at Al-Istiqamah Islamic Boarding School in Banjarmasin City and to identify the factors that support and hinder their implementation. The study employed a qualitative approach using field research. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving teachers responsible for teaching Sharaf. The data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the teachers implemented expository teaching, direct instruction, and drill-and-practice strategies to enhance students' understanding of Sharaf. These strategies were carried out through lectures, question-and-answer sessions, demonstrations, tasrif (verb conjugation) memorization, qiyas (analogical reasoning), and assignment-based learning. Supporting factors included teachers' professional competence, the availability of classical Islamic textbooks and learning facilities, and a boarding school environment conducive to Arabic language learning. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors consisted of differences in students' ability to comprehend the material, low learning motivation among some students, and limited instructional time. The study concludes that the implementation of appropriate instructional strategies contributes significantly to improving students' understanding of Sharaf, although continuous efforts are still needed to address the various challenges encountered during the learning process.
