Abstract

This study was motivated by the importance of discipline in congregational prayer as a means of developing students' religious character. Fiqh teachers have a strategic role in guiding, directing, and habituating students to perform congregational prayers in a disciplined manner. Therefore, effective efforts are needed to increase students' awareness and discipline in carrying out this religious obligation. The purpose of this study was to describe the efforts of Fiqh teachers in improving students' discipline in congregational prayer and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation at MTs Al Muhajirin Antang 2, Tarung Manuah Village, Basarang District, Kapuas Regency. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research subjects were Fiqh teachers, while the object of the study was the teachers' efforts to improve students' discipline in congregational prayer. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research results show that the efforts of Fiqh subject teachers in improving congregational prayer discipline are carried out through providing motivation, exemplary behavior, rewards, and giving advice to students. Supporting factors include support from the school, the availability of worship facilities, and cooperation between teachers and students. As for the inhibiting factors of Fiqh teachers' efforts, they include the lack of awareness of some students, lack of motivation, and lack of support from the family. These efforts are quite effective in improving students' discipline in performing congregational prayers.
